HTML driven DTP
Editing in OpenOffice or XeteX IMO is just insane. The complexity and bloat are just out of this world.
Latex I concede is still the best choice if you are doing Mathematics, however lets say you know a bit of HTML & CSS and you want to write a letter.
- In this tutorial I use Ubuntu 10.10's vim 7.2 with http://wiki.whatwg.org/wiki/IDE and my .vimrc
- http://princexml.com to generate the PDF
- Acroread (PDF reader) and the CTRL+R shortcut as it unfortunately does not auto-reload a changed file
- A Makefile used with vim's
set makeprg=
- A letter template
- markdown
Or you can use the Web application http://letterly.com which hides all that nasty LaTeX behind a HTML5 form.
